Biography
Born in 1982 in Bad Hersfeld, Germany, Matthias Heiderich is a self-taught photographer currently living and working in Berlin, where his images have been exhibited widely. Following his studies in linguistics and phonetics, he completed a Master of Arts from Trinity College, Dublin, in 2007. In addition to pursuing personal photographic projects, Matthias also operates a record label, WeirdandWired.net, and is a DJ and music producer.

What is the one thing that gets you out of bed in the morning?
Curiosity.
What would be your perfect day?
Waking up with the person I love, knowing everything is fine, having a good breakfast, playing ping pong in the sun, riding my bike, seeing a concert of my favorite band, and going to sleep with the person I love … plus more good food in between.
What is the longest trip you ever took to make a photo?
I guess my longest trip to take a photo was to the Wannsee, a lake about 20 miles away from my home :)
What was the hardest image you ever had to make?
Actually, I never HAD to take a photo, and that's good. I try not to take photos that are hard to make.
What is your favorite thing about being a photographer?
To be free is the most important thing to me. I am lucky there are people in the world who like my work.
